    Easy Homemade Flour Tortillas

    Flour tortillas on a plate

One thing that can step your taco game up is to make your own homemade flour tortillas. They are so easy to make and taste 1000% better than the ones you buy in the store. Dad actually ended up making his own tortillas not because he thought they were better. Dad ended up needing some tortillas and it was not possible to go out to the stores due to this whole apocalypse thing. After a little tweaking Dad came up with a recipe that worked for him and was easy to follow.

    The mixer makes it easy

Ever since Dad got his Kitchenaid Stand mixer he has been making doughs like a mad man. The stand mixer with a dough hook makes things a billion times easier. No more kneading things by hand. Throw your ingredients in the mixer with a dough hook and in 4 minutes you are all done.

    Roll into a log

Using a well-floured surface roll the dough into an 8-10 inch log.

    Cut into 16 pieces

Now you need to cut the log into 16 even pieces. The easiest way to do this is to cut it in half and then cut the halves in half. Repeat cutting in half 2 more times until you have 16 even pieces. Roll the pieces into balls.

    Press flat

Take the balls of dough and press them flat. This will form little round discs. Place the discs in a covered container and let them rest for 30 minutes.

    Roll them out

Preheat a pan over medium to medium-high heat. On a well-floured surface roll the tortillas to about a 6-7 inch round shape. If you like your tortillas a little thicker you can go smaller. Do not stack rolled tortillas on top of each other.

    Ready to cook

Add a little oil to the pan and place the tortilla down to cook. When the tortilla starts to bubble, flip it, and cook for a minute or two on the other side. Serve them warm and they are AMAZING!
