Frequently Asked Questions about the Ninja Woodfire Grill

Can I Cook with the Lid Open?

One of the most frequently asked questions is, "Why does my Ninja Woodfire yell at me to close the lid?" The grill only allows you to cook with the lid open in Grill mode. However, if you activate the Woodfire setting, it will still prompt you to close the lid. So, for true open-lid grilling, stick to the Grill mode.

Pellet Issues: Why Don't They Light or Stay Lit?

Many users face issues with their pellets not lighting or staying lit. The primary reason is not filling the hopper to the top. The ignition element is at the top of the hopper, so ensure it makes contact with the pellets. Always perform the "dad shake" to separate or compact the pellets, ensuring they light properly.

How Smoky Should My Grill Be?

Expect a big plume of white smoke when you first ignite the pellets. This is normal and indicates they are catching fire. After this initial burst, the smoke will become less visible but will still impart flavor. Clean smoke, which is less visible, is what you should aim for to avoid bitter tastes in your food.

    Refilling Pellets During a Cook

Yes, you can refill the pellet hopper anytime. Ensure you fill it to the top and hit the woodfire button to reignite. On the older models, hold the button for three seconds until it says "IGN." This process ensures your pellets continue to burn and produce smoke.

Do I Need to Use Ninja Brand Pellets?

No, you don't need to use Ninja brand pellets. I've tested multiple brands, and they all work fine. However, make sure to store your pellets properly in a cool, dry place to avoid moisture issues that can prevent them from lighting.
