Dad has wanted an air fryer since he first heard about them. Dad loves fried foods, and this idea that you could have fried taste without frying really intrigued him.
So, when a flash sale for an Insignia Air Fryer popped up in his favorite deal sharing facebook group he jumped on it.
Dad was so excited he made a whole unboxing and review video. You should really watch it.

It Was Only $25??
Dad actually picked up the Insignia 3.2L/3.4qt Air Fryer for only $25! Dad was of course skeptical about an air fryer for so cheap. Could it actually be any good?
What is it Like?
When you first open up the box one of the first things you notice about the Air Fryer is that it is bigger than you expect for this price. The basket has plenty of room to do 4 chicken thighs.
The Air Fryer itself is very basic. No bells and whistles here. It has 2 knobs. One is for temp and the other is for time.
The time knob is an old school egg timer kind. Think, tick, tick, tick ding!
There are only 3 pieces to the entire Air Fryer. There is the base unit, the drawer and the basket.
The basket inserts into the drawer is and is removed by a push button that is covered by a piece of plastic that slides out of the way.
What Can You Air Fry?
Dad immediately went to the store to pick up some trial run foods.
Dad got some frozen Mozzarella Sticks, Frozen French Fries and Some Frozen Sweet Plantains. The Insignia Air Fryer handled all of them like a CHAMP.
The mozzarella sticks were INSANELY good, almost too good. Paired them with Dad's 10 Minute Pizza Sauce Recipe and there could be some trouble!
The plantains were just awesome. They even had those little crispy bits that make them wonderful.
A Few Air Fryer Tips
At the time of writing this review Dad has had the unit for about 3 months. In that time Dad has come up with a few tips and one tiny gripe about the Air Fryer.
Reheat All of Your Meats in This
If you have ribs, chicken, even steaks, reheat them in the air fryer. It is lightyears ahead of microwaving things and so much more convenient than the oven.
Use Some Cooking Spray
Spray your food with a little cooking spray, aka Pam. In most cases this makes all the foods come out more like real fried foods.
The One Gripe
If the Insignia Air Fryer has any weakness it is the two screws and nuts that hold the handle to the basket. In the 3 months Dad has owned the unit they have needed to be tightened almost weekly.
If anything fails it is going to be these. However, Dad has a fix he is trying. The fix is to get two tiny lock washers, the all metal kind.
Take the screws out. Insert the lock washers and re tighten everything. So far this has been holding up and has not needed to be tightened for 3 weeks.
Final Thoughts
Even if you can’t find this air fryer for $25 it is easily worth at least twice that price in Dad’s opinion. Dad has already made Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms and Candied Yams with Marshmallows and plans on many more recipes.
