Dad's Mealthy Crisplid Review will give you all the info you need on this cooking gadget. Dad loves his $25 air fryer, but it has a few issues.
Can the Mealthy Crisplid solve those problems and become Dad's go to air fryer? Dad wants to be right up front about this. The fine people at Mealthy sent Dad a Mealthy Crisplid to try out and do a Mealthy Crisplid review.
However, they did not pay Dad to say anything in specific about the Crisplid at all. All they asked for in return was that Dad give it an honest review, and that is what this is.

The long of the short is the Mealthy Crisplid turns your instant pot into and Air Fryer. Air Fryers are the new hotness right now, literally. Air Fryers basically are compact convection ovens.
They use a heating element and a fan to circulate the hot air. This lets them heat up faster and avoid hot spots. The claim is you can get "fried" results with a fraction of the oil. In Dad's testing these claims are true.
Is the food exactly like deep fried, no. It is really close though. The Mealthy Crisplid does all this by using your Instant Pot as the vessel.
To make it work you just unplug your instant pot. Place the provided raised trivet inside the inner pot and place the fry basket that came with it on top of the trivet.
Then you place the Crisplid on top of the Instant Pot. After that you plug the Crisplid in, but make sure the Instant Pot is unplugged and off.
The Crisplid will only cook if the handle is in the down and locked position. If your Crisplid is not turning on check that first.
The controls on the Crisplid and fairly straight forward. There are buttons for temp, time, increase, decrease, start and stop.
Why Not just Buy an Air Fryer?
Dad has an air fryer, his $25 Air Fryer and he LOVES it. Dad's cheap air fryer does have it's disadvantages though. First thing is it is pretty large and takes up a lot of space on a counter or storage space.
If you already have an Instant Pot that is taking up space why add another bulky appliance when the Crisplid is basically a big pot lid.
What the Mealthy Crisplid Does Better
During the process of this Mealthy Crisplid review it became apparent that the Crisplid outshines Dad's Air Fryer in a few places. The first is capacity.
By using the Instant Pot, it fits all of the 6 and 8qt models, you get a huge space to air fry in. You can air fry a whole chicken if you wanted to, Dad wanted to.
There is no WAY dad was cramming that into his Air Fryer. Now there are larger capacity air fryers out there, but they cost a lot more than Dad's.

You Can Watch Your Food Cook!
There is a clear window that allows you to see your food cooking. You get this really nice warm orange glow from the unit too. This allows you to easily monitor your food and make sure you don't burn it, like Dad did a few times in his Air Fryer.
Easy Cleanup thanks to Stainless Steel!
One of the things that Dad dislikes about his current Air Fryer is that the Non-Stick basket get "gunky" and is a tough to clean design. The dish washer does not seem to get it clean and you can't really go at it to hard because of the coating. The Crisplid uses a stainless steel fry basket that cleaned up in a breeze in the dishwasher.

So How Did it Cook?
Dad put the Crisplid through the same tests he put his $25 Air Fryer through. Mozzarella Sticks, French Fries and Ripe Plantains.
Mozzarella Sticks:
French Fries:
Ripe Plantains:
Fried Like a Champ!
The Mealthy Crisplid handled all the foods with ease. The unit worked perfectly and they food was air fried to perfection. Everything was crispy and Dad barely used any oil from his mister.
Should You Get One?
Heck yes you should. Even if you have an Air fryer this is just a better option. It goes to 500 degrees, takes up very little space, is a breeze to clean and does what they say it does.
