Prepare to indulge in a classic holiday favorite with a modern twist—Dad’s air fried candied yams! This recipe takes the beloved, sweet, and buttery yams, tops them with gooey marshmallows, and cooks them to perfection in an air fryer. This method not only cuts down on cooking time but also ensures a deliciously caramelized finish that's both crispy and tender.
First, gather your ingredients: yams, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and mini marshmallows. Start by peeling and slicing the yams into even pieces. Next, coat them in a mixture of melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. This combination infuses the yams with a rich, sweet flavor that caramelizes beautifully in the air fryer.
Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Place the coated yams in the air fryer basket in a single layer to ensure even cooking. Cook for about 20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure all sides are evenly cooked. When the yams are tender and caramelized, top them with mini marshmallows and cook for an additional 5 minutes until the marshmallows are golden and gooey.
